Tide Tables

Although the bay is a fair distance from the Pacific, it is nonetheless tidally affected. Although it may not be critical to know the high and low tides during the fall, winter, and spring, being aware of the tidal fluctuations during the summer can mean the difference between a relaxing paddle and a long walk across a mud flat. Likewise, unless you are in a ultra-efficient touring kayak, the added resistance of an opposing tidal flow can also have a significant difference in the energy required to paddle a kayak.
As a result we often warn our customers of what stage the tides are at and areas that are best to be avoided on outgoing tide. However, for those that are planning on renting one of our kayaks for a full day, or those who are just visiting the bay, tide tables for St. Helens can be found at the below NOAA link.
