Learn how to paddle a kayak or become an expert in the calm waters of Scappoose Bay! Heighten the enjoyment of you paddling experience by honing your techniques. Our skilled instructors excel at teaching private lessons that assess your skills and advance you to your desired level of paddling expertise. Basic through advanced lessons are available by reservation.

Kayaking 101

Everyone has to begin somewhere! This lesson is a "catch all" for our kayakers as our tour guides assess your abilities and use them to determine what skills would be beneficial for you to learn. Whether you want to learn an advanced skill like carving, or just get a grasp on kayak terminology and basic technique, our guides will teach you how.

Wet Exit and Re-entry

A skill that is useful for more advanced paddlers, this lesson teaches someone how to safely exit and re-enter their kayak while in the water. This skill would be useful for the solo kayaker or someone who travels with less experienced paddlers. By conducting these lessons on the shores of the Columbia, our guides will demonstrate how to recover a kayak even in less than desirable conditions.
